Other human ways to travel

June 19th, 2008 by vivian is virtual

It does my heart good to see that efforts truly are being made to encourage alternative means of travel in cities across Canada:

My question is: Will Canadians adopt these new means of transport? Or are we still too attached to our cars? Comments?

(Oops. I guess that was two questions)

More deals from VIA Rail

June 10th, 2008 by vivian is virtual

VIA has launched a nifty new idea – Express deals.

It’s a chance for you to get last-minute savings for VIA destinations. And I mean, savings with a big ‘S’ – like 50% savings on long-distance travel, including Toronto-Vancouver and Montreal-Halifax.

Will the gas companies give you that kind of savings?

Happy green travels this summer!

Gas prices are what?

June 5th, 2008 by vivian is virtual

The message is clear, people. Leave your cars at home and take the train. Stop pouring so much money into your four-wheeled friends – and start saving money with VIA.

Millions of people around the world are functioning quite well without cars, so why can’t we? Did you know that the East Japan Railway Company serves 16 million travellers daily? Even if Canada can never attain those kinds of numbers, the concept is simple. If more people take the train, more service will be added, and the more service that is added, the more people will want to take the train.

So simple. So beautiful.

For your viewing pleasure, here is my top musical pick of the week:
