Top Christmas displays across Canada

Nothing like a stroll through the downtown streets of your favourite Canadian city to see the holiday lights and displays — *sigh*

All you need is warm boots, hot chocolate and the heart of a child! Here are some of my fave xmas displays:

Christmas at Canada Place, Vancouver

Every year, Canada Place transform its iconic sails with an array of light, color and animation effects. The kids will love to oooh and aaaah. Visit their website for full activity details.

The Bay – Christmas windows in Toronto
There have been special Christmas windows at The Bay in downtown Toronto since 1914. Fairies, carollers and wooly creatures celebrate the holiday season.

Ogilvy – Christmas windows in Montreal
This yearly, vintage Christmas window display is the only one of its type in downtown Montreal and a big draw for passerby. The tiny frogs are always my favourites.

Rue Saint-Joseph, Quebec City
Every year, the Quartier St-Roch is decorated with lights, trees and illuminated arches. You’ll think you’re in a fairy land!

What’s your favourite holiday display?

  1. The Bay’s Queen street Christmas displays take top prize for me (especially the year that Narnia came out and all the windows were themed after the magical movie worlds… right up to Santa on their Christmas floor being the Santa from the movie with the Ice Queen standing behind him)

I like this question! What I am hoping to see under the
large Christmas Tree is a Smart Car this year. I’ve been a very good student Santa!

  3. Carla says:

I would like the BlackBerry Bold 2!

  4. Descanon Cook says:

It would make my year to have a theme package gift card anywhere on via under the tree–with a train whistle of course!

  5. Christine K says:

On Bernard in Montreal in front of the restaurant “Cafe Souvenirs” there is a Xmas tree made out of recycled bicycle parts. It is made by local artists, it is beautiful and “green”. Go see it!

  6. Barb says:

I would like all of our Canadian troops safely home for Christmas (and the rest of next year).

  7. barb derocl says:

After going thru breast cancer All I want is love for xmas. Good relations and caring is all that matters.

  8. tina lagrotteria says:

What I hope to receive for Christmas is a Smart Car!

  9. Mary-E says:

My absolute dream gift would be to travel across Canada on the train, first class. More realistically, though, I’d love to receive a good book and the time to curl up in a chair with it on Christmas Day while the smell of turkey and sounds of family voices waft in.

  10. I want SNOW, lots and lots of SNOW!
