Forever true to their reputation for joie de vivre, the people of Quebec certainly know how to celebrate the holidays. If you’re a Christmas-a-holic, here are five Christmas markets that are sure to fill you with even more good cheer all through the month of December.
| OKA | To prepare your table for the holiday season, the Abbey at Oka invites you to discover many festive products and items crafted by local artisans and producers. Don’t miss the concerts, tastings and cooking demonstrations too. Every Fri-Sat-Sun in December, and Dec 21-22-23 to boot. |
| SHERBROOKE | How splendid to see a 50-foot Christmas tree lit up by 30,000 lights! Once inside the market, you can browse original gifts, unique holiday decorations, and food galore. There’s even a miniature tree for the kiddies. Every weekend in December. |
| LONGUEUIL | Located minutes south of Montreal, Longueuil offers the most stunning Christmas display with 40 small decorated houses located across the old city park. Costumed choirs, a miniature train, cooking demos and music. Make merry from December 4-21. |
| QUEBEC CITY | Flock to the old city quarters to browse more than 1,000 goodies sold by over 70 artisans and producers. Find some new holiday traditions every day in December, from 9a.m. to 6p.m. |
| TROIS RIVIERES | Cool gifties, traditional music, delicious holiday treats and Santa Claus presiding over his own merry village. If you’re near the Parc Champlain between December 10-20, don’t miss the fun. |
Sorry – all the websites are in French, but I wanted to make sure you got the right addresses. Jingle, jingle, jingle!

I’ll have to remember this for next year – I have relatives in Longueuil!
